At age 68 with two grandchildren and another one on the way it was time to decide what kind of grandfather I wanted to be. One choice was to let my muscles continue to atrophy, my waistline expand and be content to "watch " my grandchildren participate in all their activities. The other choice was to become proactive and develop a healthier lifestyle so I could participate with them. I chose door # 2. Fortuitously, it was then I found Chris Abbott. I have been working with Chris for over a year now and under his guidance and continuous encouragement I am making excellent progress in achieving my goals. More importantly, I am able to keep up with my grandchildren. We bike, hike and swim together and they even watched me participate in two Sprint Triathlons. I started working out with Chris in October of 2010. I never work out so had a long way to go, not to mention I never enjoyed working out! Chris' way of working out was different than what I had done years ago, which was mainly lifting weights. They worked mostly on core exercises and balance. I didn’t think that was going to make much of a difference but it was only 3-4 weeks before friends starting noticing. It completely reshaped my body and I lost 20 lbs without trying! I am so very grateful that I had the privilege of training with Chris. I was ready to resume working out after having a difficult pregnancy that included three months of bed rest and an emergency c-section two months before my due date. Needless to say, I was severely de-conditioned and knew that I would hurt myself if I attempted to start working out on my own. Chris was a God-send! He did an assessment of where I was fitness-wise and coupled that with my medical history to tailor make a workout plan for me that made it a reality to resume working out, and more than anything do so in a safe manner. I just completed my third month of training, and I have lost a total of 13inches!!!! I personally don't place too much importance on weight knowing that muscle weighs more than fat, but even then I lost 5lbs of fat and put on plenty of muscle in it's place!
